Christmas Light Installation Safety!
- NEVER use a strand of lights that has exposed wires or that has been electrical taped up! This is a fire hazard!
- ALWAYS use the same wattage bulbs when replacing and make sure they are unplugged before repairing!
- DO NOT connect more than the recommended strings of lights and use more than one electrical socket to prevent circuit overload!
- Use indoor lights indoors and outdoor lights outdoors. Elevate electrical connections off the ground to keep snow, water and salt out.
- Use a timer to turn on and off your lights and never leave them on when you are not home.
- When using a ladder to hang decorations, make sure that it is on level ground and have a helper hold it to prevent slipping! Don’t use ladders on slippery surfaces such as driveways or pavers.
- Move the ladder frequently to prevent overreaching and be sure that it is the proper length.
- Be sure there are no power lines in the areas where you are working!
- Do not go on your roof if it is windy, rainy, snowy or icy! (It’s always a good idea to NOT get on your roof if you don’t need to)
- Do not use nails, tacks or staples to install the lights on your roof. You WILL be calling us to repair your leaky roof next! Instead use plastic hangers intended for this purpose.
