Maryland Home Makeover
Fichtner Service is proud to have had the opportunity to work on the Maryland Home Makeover Project and help out a colleague in the building industry. In 2009, Joe Sclafani sustained a sudden and unexpected injury to his spinal cord which resulted in him being a quadripeligic. His ranch-style home in Bel Air, Maryland needed to be remodeled to accommodate his condition and allow him some independence. Many local contractors pulled together to participate in this event.
GAF, the largest roofing manufacturer in North America, donated roofing materials towards the rebuild project and Tom Fichtner, a GAF Master Elite Roofing Contractor, donated the labor and services to install the roof. Tom Fichtner said, “Joe has always been a consummate professional in how he went about his business. But even more than that, he became a friend. Friends help each other out when they are in need, so doing the roof for the Sclafani family was an easy decision.”
